LI YONGZHENG YES, TODAY. ART AS A LIFE PRACTISE Skulptur – Malerei – Fotografie 26.11.2022 – 5.2.2023 ----------------------------------------english version below --------------------------------------- Der 1971 in der Provinz Sichuan geborene Konzeptkünstler Li Yongzheng ist eine Ausnahmeerscheinung in der chinesischen Kunstszene. Er studierte Ölmalerei am Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, machte 1991 seinen Abschluss und graduierte dann 1994 am Department of Fine Arts der Southwest University (ehemals Southwest Normal University). Sein erster professionell künstlerischer Weg führte ihn zu Engagements im Bereich Werbung und Marketing. In den Jahren 1998 bis 2000 nahm er an Workshops am Institut für Soziologie der Universität Sichuan teil während er in Chengdu lebte und arbeitete. Ausgehend von seinem großen Interesse an buddhistischer Philosophie und an abendländischer Erkenntnislehre entwickelte Li Yongzheng eine multimediale Kunst, die einerseits den soziologisch-gesellschaftlichen Umbau im Rahmen der letzten Jahrzehnte in China zum Thema hat, andererseits sich an internationaler Globalisierung und Urbanisierung und deren Folgen orientiert. Skulpturen, zeitbasierte Medien, Performance und Installation gehören zu den künstlerischen Kategorien Li Yongzhengs. Das Osthaus Museum zeigt in Kooperation mit der Villa Friede in Bonn die erste Einzelausstellung von Li Yongzheng in Deutschland. Aus allen künstlerischen Bereichen werden Beispiele gezeigt, die eine sehr differenzierte Sicht auf das Werk dieses Künstlers werfen. In zahlreichen Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen innerhalb und außerhalb Chinas wurden Li Yongzhengs Arbeiten gezeigt, darunter zuletzt in „Red Ruins, Absurd Realities: Artworks by Li Yongzheng“ im Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, in der Taipei National University of the Arts, Taipei. Der Künstler lebt und arbeitet in Chengdu. LI YONGZHENG YES, TODAY. ART AS A LIFE PRACTISE Born in Sichuan province in 1971, conceptual artist Li Yongzheng is an exception on the Chinese art scene. He studied oil painting at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, graduating in 1991 and then graduating from the Department of Fine Arts at Southwest University (formerly Southwest Normal University) in 1994. His first professional artistic path led him to engagements in advertising and marketing. From 1998 to 2000, he attended workshops at the Institute of Sociology, Sichuan University while living and working in Chengdu. Based on his great interest in Buddhist philosophy and occidental epistemology, Li Yongzheng developed a multimedia art that, on the one hand, deals with the sociological and social restructuring in China in the last few decades, and on the other hand is oriented towards international globalization and urbanization and their consequences. Sculpture, time-based media, performance and installation are among Li Yongzheng's artistic categories. In cooperation with the Villa Friede in Bonn, the Osthaus Museum is showing Li Yongzheng's first solo exhibition in Germany. Examples are shown from all artistic areas, which throw a very differentiated view of the work of this artist.
